ABOUT JOHN KARPINSKY

I’ve been doing this design thing for a few years now (20+). I’ve spent a majority of my professional career at a small(ish) family-owned company, starting as a t-shirt designer and growing from there. I picked up a camera when my son was born thirteen years ago, and after a few hundred thousand clicks (and three shutters), I was finally able to add that skill to my repertoire in not only brand building, but also freelance work that has branched off in many directions. And I love the challenge. My latest challenge is leadership and rebuilding a creative department, which is not what I ever envisioned, but has been rewarding as well.

I love the work I do, but my family is my driving force. My wife’s teaching career was cut short by MS, but that’s given us the chance to focus on our son and his many interests. It might change weekly, but overall we’ve become a baseball family, and my role as team photographer has remained a constant since t-ball.

Other tidbits about John:

• Didn’t take an art class until college. Late bloomer I guess.

• Took up photography at 30. Took a photo a day of his son until he finally said enough, Dad.

• Loves dogs. And cats. And guinea pigs.

• Attends Renaissance Festivals regularly, but only dresses as a 21st century tourist.

• Willie G Davidson of Harley-Davidson calls him Johnny. He’s the only one. Please don’t.
